A broad series of tools and programs will help meet the goal of creating and preserving 200,000 affordable homes to serve a range of New Yorkers, from the very poorest to the middle class households. The City has reached out to neighborhoods and engaged residents, civic groups and local organizations in discussions on the opportunities and needs of their communities. Housing New York has leveraged its funds to create deeper affordability with the creation of new finance tools and to assist the most vulnerable communities. The City has also pushed to expand its base of service providers and developers by creating programs to build organizational capacity for women and minority owned businesses.
